BATHROOM!!!

I am not a writer, so please excuse all my writing mistakes (punctuation, paragraphs, long sentences, etc).
I am not a person to start a BIG project (for the most part).  When I start a project I normally like to see it done as soon as possible; so I find myself not being able to stop when I get started until the job is finished!  But for some reason I talked myself into a BIG project and then had to talk my husband into letting my do this BIG project!
I decided to paint our bathroom, by myself ( I know I will have to pick my husband's brain throughout this though).  I have hated the "decor" of my bathroom since the first time I ever saw it.  I wanted to paint it right away when we first bought the house & my husband (Andy) talked me out of it by telling me that we would remodel it soon !:-) I was thrilled!
Here are some pics of my bathroom currently...

my cat insisted on being in the pictures :-)

We have lived here for almost 10 years and the bathroom has not yet been remodeled :-) because it is expensive and we had other projects we decided were more important to get done for our family.  Then Andy introduced me to mis-tinted paint!  We can buy mis-tint paint for $1 a gallon, from the local paint store!  SO. I thought "hmmm I can paint the bathroom for almost nothing and when we are ready to redo it we won't really have wasted our money & I will feel better about it until we can redo it".
The window in our bathroom is tiny but for some reason whoever hung the curtain rod decided to make it twice as long as the window. It drives me crazy how wide it is.  Here you can see what I am talking about...

Why would anyone want the curtains to be that much wider than the window?

This is a HUGE project for me so PLEASE wish me luck! Andy has informed me that this project is my "baby" and he will not be helping!  I will be starting Monday or Tuesday!  :-)

  3. Karen, Thank you! I'm still figuring out the whole blog thing, but I'll get the hang of it. I am excited to start this project & maybe a little nervous. I think overall I am freaking Andy out more than anything.

Jane, Thanks! I am now following you also. I am looking forward to having all the walls in the bathroom the same color. The little pictures all over the walls are too busy for me & way outdated. So I am excited to see how things turn out.

  4. Baby, I'm sure you are going to do a great job on the bathroom! It may look so good when you're done that we'll be able to just scrap the idea of a complete remodel! :)

  7. Hi Tammy, congratulations not only on your new blog, which is fabulous by the way, but for stepping outside of the box and doing a major task! I've been redoing my entire house myself, I just bought it at the end of July and if you ever would like some encouragement along the way just say the word... here on blogger don't be shy, I have found a community of people to laugh with, to share with and to cry with. It's like an extended family, so welcome to my blogger family! As for the bathroom, when my daughter was over one day helping me paint my words of advice for her were "Never offer to paint the bathroom in a house if you're helping anyone", naturally she asked me why, so I told her that although it might be one of the smallest rooms in the house, it has the most cut ins and tiny spaces to get into, and back I went to painting my bathroom which looks amazing now. Always keep the end result in mind, it keeps the work interesting... that's my advice to you.

Have a fantastic week and all the best to you in your project. Please take lots of during and after shots, I'd love to see it!

  8. Thank you, darlin for your encouragement! I am a little nervous but a lot excited & I know that I can do the job. Also as far as the blog goes I guess I have to humor my husband once in a while. :-) I'm not sure how active I will be blogging but we shall see.

  10. Thank you! After today I think I will need all the luck I can get! I primed everything & did the first coat of paint on part of the trim & I think I ended up with just as much paint on me as I did on the walls!
I will be posting a new blog with pictures when I am finished.
