BATHROOM!!! part 3

I know I said that I was going to wait to blog again until the project was finished but I decided that considering today's happenings I should update the situation. :-)
Today I painted the first coat on the walls only to realize that the color I have is way darker than I wanted!
Here are a few pics......

So now my bathroom looks like a cloudy day, but at least all the walls match!
I am now planning to switch gears and use a much lighter paint.  Changing colors means that I have just added a couple more days to my project. So I am now hoping that it will be completely done with all the stuff back in place by the end of next week! It is kind of disappointing but not extremely because I know that in the end I will really like the change!

  1. This is kind of cool. I get to see the project before I even get home from work! :) It does look better being a uniform color now.

    You're doing great! :)

    I love you!! :)

  2. Thank you! I love that you are encouraging! I am kind of enjoying this project. I knew you would like it! :-)

I am now reconsidering the change of color & I think I will keep it the color it is now & just do my 2nd coat. I think the color is growing on me!

  3. Tammy, wow you're coming right along, awesome! Here's a suggestion, if you have a lot of the dark paint left and you want to continue with a blue why not add some white? Or here's another idea to brighten up the room, you could always put big puffy white clouds on the walls or do white stripes. The stripes would take time to mask off but it'd be pretty cool. You could do something other than stripes, you could do a pattern, like a w in the middle, or stencil something you like in whites. Just some suggestions. I know what it's like to paint over walls because I've chosen the "wrong" color. I'm actually going to have to take down two sets of bifolds and repaint them, I changed my mind on colors in my bedroom. The one good thing about painting is that if you don't like it you can always fix it and turn a room into something you'll fall in love with.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

  4. Thank you for the suggestions! Those are all very good ideas! As I walk past the bathroom more & more the color is growing on me. It does not look quite as dark as I had originally thought. So I think I am going to stick with the color it is.

  5. Your welcome Tammy. I find that the only thing with a dark color in the bathroom, I have a very deep green on two of the walls, is that they have to be wiped more often. I'm pretty sure that it's from the condensation that accumulates when I'm in the shower and I won't leave the fan on and get out to a cool room. One of those things in life!

  6. Sorry I missed part 2 of your bathroom do over, but I was out of town at my grand daughters house. For a short visit. You are doing a great job! I like it very much. Glad you decided not to paint over the dark color, less expense . Good job! Blessings jane

  7. Wow, I have been reading up on your bathroom transformation and it is coming right along! I really like the color actually. It reminds me of kind of an antique blue...not a color you see very often which gives it a unique look. I too enjoy decorating ( or redecorating lol) Here is a post of my last project!

  8. Sorry to all I have been pretty busy & have not been able to respond for a bit.

darlin, I don't think that I will have to worry about the moisture so much because we rarely use the tub in this bathroom. We have a bathroom in our basement that has a shower which is what we prefer to use. I think it looks pretty nice the closer I get to being done!

Jane, I also am glad I chose to not change to a lighter color, I think that the color grew on me & I now like it. I think it looks pretty good with the tan-ish trim also. Thank you for checking out my progress & for being excited with me as the change takes place! I hope that you had a lot of fun with your grand daughter.

Amanda, thanks for following me. My husband (Andy) had already showed me some of your blog so hopefully I will be following you soon. I have grown to really like the color it is a little different, but sometimes different is good! I have enjoyed the project overall .

Soon I will write the final piece (with pictures of course). The bathroom is almost finished.
